Uber for Business Automates Receipt Uploading for Clients

Skift Take

Automating travel and expense reporting is a growing trend in business travel. The success of this new Uber for Business feature will depend on its effectiveness in practice.

Some business travelers whose employers are Uber for Business clients will no longer have to manually submit Uber rides or Uber Eats receipts for expense reports, as Uber announced on Tuesday.

Uber for Business, with 200,000 corporate clients globally, has introduced a feature that automatically uploads and matches receipts with Uber rides and meal transactions in business travelers’ expense reports when enabled by employers.

To make this feature work, U.S. corporations must be clients of both Uber for Business and partner expense management companies Brex and Ramp.

In a recent announcement, Uber revealed that it has collaborated with expense management companies Brex and Ramp to offer automatic receipt matching capabilities. This integration is part of Uber’s efforts to work with various expense management providers.

The automatic receipt matching feature provided by Uber for Business is significant as Uber rides and meals are frequently expensed items in business travel, according to various reports.

Additionally, the receipt matching feature has implications beyond just convenience for business travelers.

Corporate Travel Policies

Uber for Business corporate clients can establish policies for Uber rides and meals, such as spending limits or permissible transaction hours. AI tools from Brex and Ramp can identify transactions that do not comply with corporate travel policies.

Uber for Business reported a “strong adoption” of the receipt matching feature among its corporate clients. Once the integration with Brex or Ramp is enabled, employees are automatically set up with the receipt matching feature.

Easier Reconciliation for Finance Teams

Finance teams are likely to benefit from automated receipt matching as it can help in maintaining accurate records and streamlining end-of-month processes.

“Our collaboration with Brex and Ramp allows us to simplify expenses for companies of all sizes, enhancing the experience for employees and finance professionals alike,” said Susan Anderson, Uber for Business leader.
